The T-SPOT.TB test
Addressing the need for accurate TB screening
Did you know that tuberculosis (TB) disease is one of the top 10 causes of death and the number one infectious disease killer worldwide?1 In the US, there were over 8,500 new cases of TB in 2019, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.2
Obtaining an accurate TB test result is crucial, but it can present a challenge. There are millions of people with latent TB infection (LTBI),3 which can become active if a person’s immune system becomes compromised. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Eliminating TB requires expanding testing and treatment of latent TB infection.”3 Those who are immunocompromised may receive a false negative result with a tuberculin skin test (TST). However, the T-SPOT.TB test is accurate across patient populations and is the only IGRA test without a warning in its package insert for screening immunocompromised individuals4,5 – which may include:3
- Advanced age
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Diabetes
- HIV
- Chronic renal failure
- HIV positive
- Cancer

Between the people and TB, there’s us
As a leading diagnostic company, Oxford Immunotec’s mission is to raise TB awareness in the hopes of eradicating this terrible disease by providing an accurate diagnostic test. We partner with survivors to share their personal stories and work hard to be a leader in the fight against TB.

Cells Matter4
The T-SPOT.TB test is a blood test for TB screening performed in one visit, using one blood collection tube. The T-SPOT.TB test is an in vitro diagnostic test for the detection of effector T cells that have been specifically activated by MTB antigens and is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of MTB infection. The T-SPOT.TB test delivers accurate and reliable results that clinicians can depend on.
TECHNOLOGYIsolate PBMCs
Enriches the desired cell population
(T cells) from whole blood
Wash cells
Enables removal of serum and potentially interfering substances
Count cells
Facilitates correction for variations in patient PBMC counts
Standardize cells
Ensures that the required number of cells are used to produce a
reportable result
